Have A Question?

How does a company receive a BEE certificate?

BEE certificates are issued by an accredited SANAS BEE Verification Agency (VA’s) after an audit is conducted where the scoring elements are formally assessed.

What period does a BEE certificate cover?

A BEE certificate is based on the company’s financial year and is valid for a period of 12 months.

What are the 5 BEE scorecard elements?

Although some information is specific to certain industries, companies are rated under five elements:

  1. Ownership,
  2. Management Control and Employment Equity,
  3. Skills Development,
  4. Enterprise and Supplier Development (including Procurement) and
  5. Socio-Economic Development.

The combined score of these elements contributes to the rating on the BEE scorecard.

Why does a company need a BEE certificate?

Companies need a certificate to confirm their BEE rating, which is important for doing business with government and private companies that appoint suppliers with the best BEE ratings as this impacts their own BEE rating. A BEE rating also shows a company’s commitment to transformation and development.
